Tremere

Chandrika Kampala: Wise to a fault, Chandrika Kampala's spiritual traditions render her nearly unable to function in Tremere politics. Indeed, her self-declared neutrality makes her ability to climb the pyramid non-existent were she to even desire such a thing. Instead, she had delved deeply in the spiritual mysteries, even finding that as a child her ability for divination was clear and her gods, interested in using her as an oracle. Unfortunately, her gods hardly mirror that of Caine and Abel or the creation story. Initially furious with being made Kindred, Chandrika devoted herself to Kali, a vengeful, terrifying goddess who desired sacrifice for her msyteries and wisdom. Having cut off her hand in this pursuit, Candrika served the dark goddess until her own ugly and much less society serving vengeance was mirrored to her. She put down her necklace of skulls and dedicated herself to Kali's more peaceful personifications. Desiring enlightenment, she hopes that one day she could lead herself and other Kindred to Golconda and works toward this personal pursuit devotedly. And, well, if it happens that the Tremere are those left in the majority of Camerilla Kindred to rule matters than, well, surely she can't force them to accept enlightenment, right? The Tremere also keep her around because she has an uncanny gift to see darkness brewing in a Tremere's aura before its really there and can perhaps counsel them before the problems boils over. Although they hope that in such a manner she will bring unity, many often become her followers. Bkgrd: Hindu mysticism and ritual (Rakta-sadhus), oracle, counselor, cult following

Aidan Vilantrie: He's a bastard, but you won't know it until after you get screwed. Indeed, the only person who inspires his loyalty is Catherine, he is magically gifted in the dark arts that the Tremere frown upon (and he therefore, keeps secret). Catherine has often found herself having to get him out messes that he can't clean up (pissed off demons don't usually leave quietly, thank goodness she is an Astor), but he makes up for it with some particularly useful and innovative rituals. On many occasions, he will be Catherine's partner in crime, especially during 'covert field operations' and their relationship is a twisted blend of fierce sibling-like loyalty and a twisted non-romantic/non-exlusive illicit-like affair (a la Dangerous Liasons). Much older then Catherine, he started off mentoring her when she was a fledgling, thus perhaps helping to tinge her own aura darker so-to-speak. But how loyal is he to the Tremere? And will he betray them for his ultimate transformation to attain power? As he tumbles further down into the darkness of his forbidden pursuits, Catherine has to determine whether to save him, damn him or continue to tumble along headlong. After all, although he is an evil bastard, he is an affectionate, attentive companion who makes eternity with the distant, cold Tremere manageable. If he defects, will she follow? Bkgrd: Horned Society, occultist, field operative, networking with some particularly dodgy characters.

Aidan's first brief appearance was in Cruel Intentions. What I would not pay to have a good writter pick him up. The fool is driving me mad with the constant pressure to make him, in his words, 'into a real boy'.

Voice: A particular blend of Commodus from Gladiator.

Marc de Vaubernier: If every clan needs a Ventrue-like leader, than Marc is the Tremere's brand of Ventrue. Cold, distant and efficient, he is primarily concerned with results and balancing his underlings so that they work most efficiently toward the Tremere's (and his) goals. Perhaps no other than Catherine is most loyal to him, seeing him as the logical choice in any power holding positions and in progressing her own designs for climbing the pyramid. Marc is Catherine's Sire and has never revealed to her the real reason why she was turned by the Tremere (indeed the secondary reasons are obviously more suitable). Catherine is his right hand, often doing his will with measured covert action (most the time) and his most trusted emissary. Emotional, tempestuous and with a need to connect with her kin, Marc uses Catherine's feelings for him to string her along and keep her in line, which often saves her from Aidan's own darker overtures. How long will he be willing to balance her? And will he betray her trust by blood bonding her (a crime among the Tremere) to secure her loyalty to him and to save her if she strays? And what would happen if he found out about Aidan's indiscretions, knowing that destroying him would push Catherine over the edge? Bkgrd: Tremere Lord (France), The Elite.
